Opening Day Sim The First sim came and went today. It was great to look to see how my drafted team performed and have a look around the league! Randy Johnson Had one heck of an opening 7 days. He got two starts this past sim and didn't have much help. He faced the Twins going 9 Innings and giving up no runs sitting down 12 batters on the day and issuing one walk on a 130 pitch count. The bullpen ended up giving up the winning run in the bottom of the 11th and Johnson's great effort goes without support. It was much of the same story when he faced the Yankees. It was an absolute pitching duel as he faced, Scott Kamieniecki. Kamieniecki had 16 groundouts on the day and benefited from a spotless defensive effort for New York. Rookies Corner- Some of the young bats in the league had a good start. Jeremy Burnitz leads all rookies so far with nine hits and a .375 ab. Jim Edmonds the number 3 prospect in the MLB also made the Opening Day Roster. Edmonds belted out six hits and in 20 at-bats. It's going to be interesting to see which rookie makes a full-season impact come playoff time. As far as pitchers go Phil Leftwich was the only top 100 Starting pitcher to get a win in the opening sim. He went 6.1 innings versus Baltimore and had six strikeouts and only gave up two runs.
